BioAir Dampers
Control, Isolation, and Backdraft Dampers constructed from FRP in accordance with AMCA Standards
Dampers are an essential accessory for most air treatment applications, critical for balancing airflows, preventing air from going in the wrong direction, and isolating equipment for maintenance or operation. BioAir is pleased to offer premium quality dampers so that our customers have a single-source supplier for their air treatment equipment.
BioAir Solutions takes Quality Assurance and Control seriously. All our FRP Dampers are manufactured to strict Quality Control Standards in conformance with BioAir’s ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Certification. The damper fabrication meets ASTM D3982 and ASME RTP-1 standards, and Ultra-ow Leakage (Isolation) and Volume Control are tested per AMCA 500-D and AMCA 511.

Damper Types
Control Damper Valve (CDV-Series)
Volume Control dampers are used for airflow balancing when full isolation or airflow stoppage is not required. They are often used to balance airflow from multiple ventilated sources. BioAir CDV-series Dampers are leak tested in accordance with AMCA 500-D Figure 5.6a and meet the AMCA 511 Class 1/1A Allowable Leakage Rates.
Isolation Damper Valve (IDV-Series)
Ultra-Low Leakage Dampers (also called Isolation Dampers) are used when there is a need to isolate a ventilated source or airflow from an adjoining portion of the system. Isolation is achieved through tighter tolerances between the damper blade and body, and the blade is equipped with a special corrosion-resistant EPDM seal. Leakage testing conducted per AMCA 500-D Figure 5.6a has demonstrated < 0.5 cfm/sqft @ 30” w.c., thus outperforming the AMCA standard of 6.93 cfm/sqft @ 12” w.c. for ultra-low-leakage dampers per AMCA 511.
Bubble-Tight Damper (IDV-Series)
Per AMCA 511, BioAir’s IDV-Series dampers, from 4” to 48” inclusive, are all classified bubble-tight to 24” w.c. and Dampers from 32” to 72” are classified as bubble-tight to 20” w.c.
Backdraft Damper Valve (BDV-Series)
Often referred to as Non-Return Valves, backdraft dampers are used to prevent air from flowing in the wrong direction in the duct and are mostly used around fans that are mounted in a duty/standby configuration.
